In 2011 Malar Trust India started, on an experimental basis, a first tailoring school for a small Irula community near Poonjeri with the purpose of helping the women to develop a craft useful for themselves and their families.
This first center was followed by a second one for disabled women in Tiruppurur and by a third one opened for the Irula community near the village of Peryar Nagar and one for ST women in 2022 in Kunnapattu village.
Some of the women that attended, got a job in tailoring Companies, some other are tailoring for neighborns.
At present we are running one more course in Kunnappattu, partially paid by the women that attend. The course offers four hours of daily lessons.
