We are pleased to share a news that marks a major milestone for the community of Poonjeri: the installation of a new water purification system – a vital intervention to improve the quality of life for the families living there.

The system, provided by the association Hand in Hand, was installed thanks to the efforts of Malar Trust, which took care of building the housing cabin and managing the entire installation process. This valuable collaboration made possible an intervention that was both long-awaited and urgently needed.

Access to clean and safe water is a fundamental right, yet a large portion of the population, unable to afford bottled water, must face daily challenges related to the contamination of local water sources. Untreated water can carry diseases and infections, endangering the health of both adults and children.

With the installation of this purification system, we have been able to provide the community with a high-quality supply of drinking water, significantly reducing the risk of waterborne illnesses. The system has been designed to be sustainable and to continue serving the families of Poonjeri in the long term, thanks to regular maintenance provided by the Panchayat of Mamallapuram, of which Poonjeri is part.

This project is a concrete example of how collaboration between associations, local authorities, and citizens can lead to impactful initiatives that improve living conditions and promote sustainable development. The health of the community and care for the environment are at the heart of our mission, and each step forward brings us closer to a fairer, more prosperous future for all.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us, especially the Italian donor Margherita, who personally funded the entire project.
