Many abandoned elderly people live in the village of Amoor, especially single women, elderly widows whose children have moved elsewhere, looking for better job opportunities.
After Malar Trust made a donation of plastic sheets to cover the most damaged huts of the village, the Amoor Panchayat asked the Association to do something to help the elderly population on a regular basis and offered us a public building that was not in use.
After a survey, where many people came asking for help, we renovated the building and equipped it with kitchen staff, shelves, pantry, pots, plates, glasses and everything else is needed to feed about thirty people every day.
The Center is also a place for the old people to meet and talk and offers a bedroom with attached bathroom for emergencies.
The place was inaugurated on October 16th at the presence of Panchayat and Malar Trust Representatives.
After the usual speeches, a nice lunch has been offered to all participants.
