Mallika and her mother had been living in a house in poor condition for years, facing flooding whenever it rained. Thanks to the support of a generous Italian donor, they now have a new home that offers them greater safety and better living conditions.
Mallika is 49 years old and lives in the village of Perumbedu, in the Chengalpattu district of India. Born with a physical disability, she lost her father when she was still a child. She never married and now lives with her 75-year-old mother, Chinnaponnu.
Their only income came from Mallika disability pension of 1,500 rupees a month and her mother old age pension of 1,200 rupees a month, supplemented by occasional sewing work whenever possible. Their home, built more than twenty years ago, had fallen into serious disrepair. Every time it rained, the house flooded, and its structure was at risk of collapsing.

Mallika reached out to us for help.
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of an Italian donor, who contributed the €2,000 needed for the project, Mallika and her mother now have a new, safe and dignified home.

For them, this means much more than having a roof over their heads. It means facing the monsoon season without fear, living in safety and dignity, and finally having a place they can truly call home.
To the generous donor who made this transformation possible, we say just one thing: thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
