Looking after two daughters and abandoned by her husband many years ago, Dhanushiya suffers from a serious chronic illness. With a donation od 10.000 rupees MTI helped the woman start her own business.

For 4 years MTI has been helping Dhanushiya by offering occasional small jobs, supporting the cost of medicines and offering a scholarship to the elder daughter, aged 21, that now lives and studies in Chennai attending the last year at college. A younger daughter aged 12 lives with her mother attending the seventh grade at the Poonjeri public school.

In the last two years Danushiya has worked in a private dog shelter, cleaning the cages and preparing food for the dogs but in the long run the work has become too heavy for her precarious state of health.

After learning that occasionally MTI helps disabled people to start or expand small businesses, she asked us to help her set up a table to sell street food: Ragi gravy and butter milk which she prepares at home and sells at 20rs per portion.

With around 10,000rs we financed the purchase of some crockery, some raw materials and above all a table with two lockable doors where she can store the little necessary equipment before going back home in the evening.
