A tailoring machine has been delivered yesterday in one of the backward areas where the Association works, a village called Periyar Nagar (Manampathy, Thiruporur block).
The name of the woman that received the machine is Sulochana and she is one of the ten women that Malar Trust India selected as more promising in a village where about 60 irular (ST) families live.
The Association is strongly focused in women development in this irular community so the management was very happy to donate the tailoring machine: it will be very useful to develop Sulochana family economical level.
During the meetings that the Associations run periodically with the group of ten, women empowerment has become a significant topic of discussion. It also refers to the ability of women to enjoy their right to control and benefit from resources, assets and income; time management and the ability to manage risk and improve their economic status and well-being.
